Illawarra Hawks president Dorry Kordahi announced on Monday he is stepping down from his role after two years in the position.
The move comes after Kordahi cited the need to focus more time and attention on his other business endeavours.
As president of the foundation club, Kordahi is credited with starting the Hawks in Business program and was a large, deciding factor in head coach Brian Goorjian coming to the Illawarra in 2020.
Despite relinquishing his duties from the operational side of the business, Kordahi will remain part of the Hawks ownership group.
The Hawks ownership group remain committed to keeping the club thriving in the Illawarra and has already begun the recruitment process to find an experienced leader.
In the meantime, Hawks legend and former Australian Boomer Mat Campbell will assume the title of acting president for community related activities until a permanent CEO is named; otherwise it will be business as usual as the team look to enter the NBL22 Finals.
The Hawks’ next game is on Friday, April 22, where they take on the Perth Wildcats at RAC Arena from 9.30pm AEST.
