The Illawarra Hawks are excited to announce both Shaun Roger and Alex Moore have extended their respective deals with the club.
Assistant coach Roger, who has worked alongside new head coach Jacob Jackomas for two seasons, will return to the sidelines for NBL23, while Moore will be the Wollongong-based NBL club's high-performance manager for the second straight campaign.
"Both Shaun and Alex were integral parts of our success as a club last season and getting them back on board for NBL23 was key for us this off-season," Jackomas said.
"Shaun has been working alongside Brian [Goorjian] and I since we started this project and has been huge in developing some of our younger players, such as Sam Froling, Daniel Grida, Akoldah Gak and Alex Mudronja during that time.
"Alex is one of the best in high-performance in the country, thanks to years of experience in the NBA - so his approach to preparation and recovery is invaluable and a big reason why our players performed the way they did last season."
Roger, whose connection with Jackomas dates back to their time at the Sydney Comets, is excited to build on what the foundation club have built over the past two seasons.
"The past two seasons with the team have been a surreal experience, under the guidance of both Brian Goorjian and Jacob Jackomas, where a solid foundation for long-term success has been built," said Roger, who has also previously coached at Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles, North Sydney Bears and multiple NSW Metropolitan state teams.
"Now with Jacob steering the ship, I’m excited to work with a close friend who has mentored me for the past six years.
"Jacob’s passion and knowledge for the game is second to none and provides an exciting opportunity to walk into work every day with a smile on my face.
"Our ownership group, front office, and coaching staff are on a continual upwards trajectory - something special is brewing down in Wollongong."
Prior to joining the Hawks, Moore spent five seasons as high-performance director for the Cleveland Cavaliers (winning an NBA championship in 2016), six years with the US ski and snowboarding team and three years with North Melbourne Football Team.
“I really enjoyed my first season at the Hawks and I am excited to work with Jacob moving forward," Moore said.
"Jacob is a very inclusive coach and has a great relationship with all the players a staff.
"I look forward to building on what has developed at Illawarra the last few years as we strive to be a club that has sustained success”.
