After overcoming numerous injury challenges, the 6’6” guard/forward, Dan Grida, has finally had the opportunity to enjoy a full offseason, a complete NBL season, and now, he's an NBL Champion! To top it off, the Illawarra Hawks are excited to announce that Dan Grida will be re-signing for the next two seasons!
Dan has become a key figure in the Illawarra community and a fan favourite, with many supporters even adopting his signature mullet hairstyle.
This season, Dan played a vital role off the bench, setting the tone defensively and making valuable contributions on the offensive side.

“Signing with the Hawks for another two years means everything to me. It’s no secret that I love Illawarra and all the fans here! Winning a Championship this season has been a dream come true, and I’m excited to try and repeat next year!” Dan said.
General Manager of Basketball, Mat Campbell added: “The club is excited to re-sign Dan. His dedication, competitive spirit, and deep connection with the community have earned him a special place as a fan favourite here in the Illawarra. He’s been a key part of the club's rebuild and success since joining in the 2018/19 season.
This off-season, Grida will take his talents to the Bayhawks in the NZNBL, bringing with him the experience and winning mindset forged in his journey to becoming an NBL Champion.
