The Australian basketball family are deeply saddened by the tragic news coming from the Hillcrest community in Tasmania over the past few days.
The Illawarra Hawks and the whole hoops fraternity would like to extend our condolences to the families of the six children who lost their lives and the whole Hillcrest community on what was meant to be a day of celebration.
We are further saddened to learn of the passing of one of our own, Chase Harrison - who was a much-loved member of the Devonport Warriors and the Basketball Tasmania Further Development Program.
Harrison will always be remembered in our hearts.
Our thoughts are with all impacted by this tragedy.
The WNBL and NBL will be honouring the six children by holding a minute silence and wearing black armbands at all games taking place this week.
A public fund has been set up in support of the families and the community affected.
