The Illawarra Hawks would like to congratulate Marianne McTiernan as the second recipient of the Titanium Traffic Hawks Hero Award.
Each week this award is presented to a member of the Illawarra area doing extraordinary acts of support in their community, and Marianne is exactly that.
For over 30 years Marianne has volunteered within the NSW State Emergency Service (SES), where she dedicates over 30 hours per week to assisting its members gain important skills.
The NSW SES is a volunteer-based rescue and emergency service committed to helping the local community through flood and storm emergencies. An integral part of the community, it’s likely you’ve seen a number of their 9,000 volunteers in their recognisable orange overalls when disaster has struck.
Marianne is not paid for her time, however she said that she loves being able to support her community in times of disaster and wouldn’t change it for anything.
On behalf of the Illawarra Community, we extend a massive thank you to Marianne and her fellow NSW SES volunteers for their dedicated service.
NSW SES Volunteers come from many different backgrounds, bringing with them various skills, interests, and backgrounds. If you would like to learn more about the NSW SES or become a volunteer yourself you can find more information on their website.
