Michael Frazier II is facing 4-6 weeks on the sideline after sustaining a left forearm injury in Friday night's road match against Adelaide.
Scans on Saturday revealed a forearm fracture, with the diagnosis ruling Frazier II out of the remainder of the NBL23 season.
Frazier II joined the Hawks after import George King's season was cut short with an ankle injury and made an immediate impact.
In his eight outings, Frazier II has averaged 17.5 points per game, at an efficient 50% from both the field and the three-point line.
Frazier II provided Coach Jackomas with another ball handler, a consistent threat on the offensive end and a versatile defender with the ability to guard multiple positions.
For the Hawks, the horror run of injuries continues, with Frazier the fourth import to have their campaign cut short.
Hawks GM of Basketball Mat Campbell spoke to an all-familiar subject on receiving the injury update Saturday evening.
"The news of Michael's injury was disappointing for the club and player."
"Michael has been nothing short of outstanding from the minute he walked into the Snakepit. His work ethic, commitment to his craft, and willingness to do whatever his coaches and teammates asked of him is a credit to his character, and the professional Michael is."
"Michael quickly made himself a fan favourite amongst the Hawks faithful. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back on the court in the coming months."
"While results haven't gone our way, we are buoyed by the group's resilience, and they continue to compete at a high level with some of the best teams in the competition. Through adversity comes opportunity, and we are confident we will continue to see our young group develop over the remaining four weeks of the NBL season."
Frazier II joins Justin Robinson, George King, and, more recently, Peyton Siva as Hawks imports that have had their seasons cut short by injury.
On Tuesday night, the Hawks regroup to face the Tasmania JackJumpers at WIN Entertainment Centre.
