NBL commissioner Jeremy Loeliger has provided an update on the status of the Illawarra Hawks' 2021-22 season.
With numerous games being postponed during rounds four and five due to COVID-19 impacts, including Illawarra's fixtures with South East Melbourne, Sydney and Cairns, Loeliger has revealed the plan is to reschedule those matches in January.
“We don’t have any plans at this stage to extend the season or move to a hub,” Loeliger told RSN.
“I wouldn’t say cram games in, but we are going to reschedule them for the current period.
"We kept Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and to a large extent Thursday relatively free in order to be able to reschedule postponed games.
“The games that have been postponed so far will be able to be slotted into January.”
The NBL will announce the dates of the rescheduled games in the coming days.
Tickets for the Hawks' next three home fixtures at the WIN Entertainment Centre are available via Ticketmaster.
