Illawarra Hawks guard Peyton Siva will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a right shoulder injury.
Siva sustained a high-grade AC joint injury in the Hawk's New Years Eve match-up against the Wildcats.
Since joining the Hawks, Siva has featured in 11 games while averaging just under 10 points and 6.5 assists per outing.
The news is a blow to a young Hawks side who were starting to gain some continuity amongst the import trio of Harvey, Siva, and Michael Frazier.
Hawks GM of Basketball Mat Campbell spoke of Peyton’s impact and the road ahead for the young Hawks squad.
"We are disappointed for Peyton as he has been a welcome addition to the club since arriving in October."
"Peyton joined us when the squad was undermanned and in a tough stretch on the floor, but he was the perfect mix of performance and leadership required at the time."
"Peyton came to us with the reputation of being a pro's pro, and he has left a big impression on our young guards and the squad more broadly."
"We will play out the remainder of the NBL23 season with the current squad, with the likes of Davo Hickey, Lachie Dent, and Alex Mudronja looking to continue their strong performances at the guard position."
Having missed the match against Cairns with hamstring tightness, Michael Frazier will re-join the side for their road trip to Adelaide.
The Hawks and Frazier will take on the Adelaide 36ers in Adelaide at 7:30 pm AEDT on Friday night.
