The Illawarra Hawks would like to welcome the arrival of Golden State Warriors scout Michael Lee to Australia.
Lee will be here primarily to observe the development of Hawks guard Justinian Jessup after the Warriors drafted him with pick 51 in the 2019-20 NBA Draft.
Lee is also an assistant coach for G-League franchise – the Santa Cruz Warriors.
Illawarra Hawks President and Co-Owner, Dorry Kordahi, said this would be a great opportunity for the Hawks and their ‘Next Star’ Jessup.
“We are very excited to have Michael here paying close attention to the development of Justinian. He has been a fantastic addition to the Hawks roster and we believe the best is still to come under coach Goorjian,” Kordahi said.
Director of Team Development for the Golden State Warriors, Kent Lacob, said this trip would give Lee a golden opportunity to keep a keen eye on prospective NBA talent.
“Of course Justinian is a player to keep a special focus on. We want to fully observe and evaluate him and see how he can fit in with the Warriors. But Michael is also there to run his eye over the rest of the league. His role for the season is basically to be our ears and eyes for the NBL as a whole,” Lacob said.
Jessup joined the Hawks after completing his senior NCAA season at Boise State University where he etched his name in its record books with an incredible 325 three-point shots over four years.
He was also the first player in Boise State history to record 1500 points, 500 rebounds, 250 assists, 150 steals and 50 blocks.
