The Illawarra Hawks have welcomed today’s announcement of a major new sport and entertainment precinct, set to become the future home of the reigning NBL25 Champions in the heart of Wollongong.

Unveiled by New South Wales Premier Chris Minns, Minister for Planning, Public Spaces and Member for Wollongong Paul Scully, Minister for Health and Regional Health Ryan Park, Minister for Sport Steven Kamper and Member for Shellharbour Anna Watson the proposed redevelopment will deliver major upgrades to WIN Entertainment Centre.
The development will significantly enhance the game-day experience for Hawks members and fans, delivering increased capacity, improved sightlines, modern amenities and premium corporate and hospitality spaces.
Illawarra Hawks Chief Operating Officer Nicole Walker said the project highlights basketball’s international influence and positions Wollongong to gain global attention through its expanding broadcast reach.
“Basketball is truly a worldwide sport, and this new precinct can showcase the best of Wollongong to a global audience, drawing greater interest to our club and our home venue,” Walker said.
“This important first step and commitment to investment from the NSW Government represents a major leap forward for our supporters, our commercial partners, and the broader community.”
The Illawarra Hawks welcome the NSW Government’s commitment to this transformational project and look forward to supporting its delivery for the benefit of sport, entertainment and the Illawarra community.
