Hawks New Recruit 'Davo' Stepping Up

Hawks rising star William ‘Davo’ Hickey has come into his own in the recent rounds of the Hungry Jacks NBL23 season.
At the beginning of October, Hickey was elevated to the Hawks’ full-time roster after the young talent was initially signed as a development player in August.
In the Hawks previous three games, the 6’4 combo guard has played an average of 18 minutes, and he used every one of those minutes to show what he could bring to the team.
Fans first got the opportunity to see what Hickey could do on the court in the Hawks v Kings game back in November, where he delivered nine points, eight rebounds, three assists and one block in his 23 minutes played. Hickey used this chance to make it clear that Hawks coach, Jacob Jackomas, made the right decision by granting him a full-time position on the team’s roster.
Most recently, Hickey’s talent was on display on Monday night during the Hawks win against Melbourne United. He secured the Hawks 10 points, three rebounds and two assists and used his defensive skills to limit United’s guards’ ability to get within the 3-point line.
A familiar face, Hickey starred for the Indigenous Australian team against the Hawks 2019/20 side, where he racked up 28 points. Hickey also has prior NBL experience, having held development player positions with South East Melbourne Phoenix and Melbourne United.
Fans should look forward to seeing more of Hickey as he continues to refine his talent and increase his court presence over the remainder of the NBL23 season and beyond.
