The Illawarra Hawks can reveal Saturday’s COVID-19 case, which forced their NBL Blitz game against the Sydney Kings at the WIN Entertainment Centre to be cancelled, was a false positive.
As such, the Illawarra Hawks, who are all double vaccinated, have been cleared to resume training by NSW Health.
“It’s obviously very disappointing we didn’t get a chance to play in front of our home fans on Saturday," Hawks co-owner and president Dorry Kordahi said.
"It was a very costly exercise but following NSW Health orders and state government protocols was something we had to adhere to.
"We will always put the safety of all our players and coaches, first.
“The team will now ramp up preparations for their round one clash against Adelaide, where they’ll look to build on their two strong NBL Blitz wins in Melbourne.”
The foundation club’s season opener against the Adelaide 36ers, on Sunday, December 5 at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre from 1pm AEDT, will now go ahead as planned.
