The final hit out of the Hawks NBL23 Blitz campaign will see us battle the Cairns Taipans on the Gold Coast.
The Hawks enter today's match off the back of a 95-88 win against the Brisbane Bullets. It was a Lachie Olbrich masterclass on Wednesday afternoon, with the rookie big man finishing with 20 points, three assists, two rebounds and a steal in a breakout performance off the bench.
Olbrich shot 80% from the floor and showed his range with a make from downtown, all while battling the Brisbane big-man brigade led by Aron Baynes.
Justin Robinson was impressive in his first outing of the new season, scoring 12 points, three assists and two steals in his 13 minutes of action.
Harvey, Froling, Gary Clark, and Hyunjung Lee all had their moments, and Hickey, Bayles and Swaka Lo Buluk continued to impress at the defensive end of the floor.
Our opponents, the Taipans, led by Coach Adam Forde, enter today's match with a 1-1 Bitz record after their 5-point victory over the South East Melbourne Phoenix.
It's a young and exciting Taipans squad in NBL24, and today's hit out will see some of the league's brightest young talent do battle.
Next Stars Bobi Klintman and AJ Johnson will be ones to watch, as will the match-up of the bigs, with Sam Waardenburg narrowly beating out our own Sam Froling as the NBL's Next Generation Award winner last season.
Hawks fans can catch all the action of today's match live and free from 5:00pm on Kayo Freebies.
