Round 14: 36ers vs Hawks

The Hawks are on the road for the first time in 2023, visiting the city of churches to face a desperate Adelaide 36ers.
Close home losses to the Wildcats and Taipans won't dent the squad's confidence as they continue to push for a return to the winner's column.
The Hawks were dealt a late blow with the news that both Peyton Siva and Michael Frazier would miss the clash with the Taipans with shoulder and hamstring complaints.
The Hawk's injury curse seems set to continue, with Siva likely missing for the remainder of the NBL23 season.
It is better news for Frazier, who is a chance to return to the line-up against Adelaide.
The Hawks were right in the mix until the final stages against Cairns behind a 25-point and 13-rebound performance from Sam Froling, with Tyler Harvey playing the supporting role from the perimeter with 21 points.
The loss of Siva saw more minutes for players Lachie Dent and Davo Hickey, with the latter continuing his breakout season with 14 points and five boards.
Keep a Hawk Eye On
It’s that man, Davo Hickey.
Hickey’s rare combination of size, skill and athleticism has been on full display this season.
Hickey has quickly become Coach Jackomas’ mister fix it playing minutes at the point, the two, and at times on the wing.
Hickey’s highlight reel is up there with the best for the team this season, with several fast-break dunks and defensive plays at the rim a regular staple.
With Siva missing from the line-up, the 36ers clash will provide Hickey with another opportunity to stake his claim as a Hawk staple for seasons to come.
Opposition Watch
The 36ers had had some import movement of their own with the recent signing of NBL22 Champion Ian Clark.
Clark replaced Craig Randall in the Sixers squad in the hope he will have a similar impact to the one he made with the Kings in the latter stages of the NBL22 season.
The 36ers currently sit 7th on the league standings and sit just one game behind Tasmania and Perth for the play-in tournament.
