An impressive offensive performance saw the NBL1 Illawarra Hawks secure a convincing 97-68 win over the Newcastle Falcons in the first week of June.
Harry Morris was back for the Hawks on Saturday, providing much-needed offensive help with 19 points, seven rebounds, and two assists on a respectable 50% efficiency. The Hawks' small forward was solid in his first game back after a smaller stint on the sidelines.
William Hickey was once again a powerhouse, being the game leader with another double-double in 22 points and an impressive 16 rebounds, complimented by five assists, three steals, and a block.
Tim Coenraad was somewhat quieter but still provided the solid offence needed with 14 points, three rebounds, and three assists. A notable mention for the Hawks was Noah Pagotto, who scored 18 points, eight assists on 53% shooting, and three steals.
The women's team was brave in defeat, going down to the Newcastle Falcons 49-70. Ella Dent was once again the team leader with a respectable 14 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
With an extended break for NBL1, you'll be able to catch the Hawks on Saturday, June 17, at 7:30 pm when they take on the Canberra Nationals, with the women's game preceding at 5:30pm.
Mason Peatling was back for the Knox Raiders, taking a 97-79 win over the Geelong Supercats on Saturday night. Peatling had an incredibly efficient night, scoring 15 points on a whopping 83% shooting efficiency, almost notching up a double-double with nine rebounds.
His performance was complemented by two assists, two steals, and a block, a hint of what HawkNation can look forward to in NBL24 from the championship-winning forward.
Peatling and the Raiders will look to continue their winning form when they take on the Nunawading Spectres Friday, June 9, at 8:00pm.
Lachlan Olbrich played back-to-back games for the West Adelaide Bearcats, where the team grabbed both a win and a loss.
Saturday's game saw Olbrich with one of his highest scoring efforts of the year with 30 points on an incredible 71% shooting efficiency, nine rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block in a 95-82 win over the South Adelaide Basketball Club.
As mentioned, Hawks fans have much to look forward to, with the young 19-year-old already displaying his potential ahead of the NBL24 season.
Sunday's game wasn't meant to be with an 87-102 loss to Norwood. However, Olbrich still provided reliable offence. With a similar shooting run to Saturday night, Olbrich scored 23 points on 67% efficiency. Olbrich also recorded seven rebounds, three assists, and a steal.
Catch Olbrich and the Bearcats on Saturday, June 17, when they take on the Sturt Sabres at 8:15pm ACST.
Biwali Bayles played a vital role in the Gold Coast Seahawk's nail-biting win on Saturday night against the visiting Red City Roar going up 99-97.
In 27 minutes of play, Bayles scored 18 points with a rebound on a respectable 53% shooting efficiency.
The Seahawks take on the Darwin Salties on Sunday, June 11 at 3:00 pm AEST.
