Import forward George King has returned to the US to begin rehabilitation on a lower leg complaint and has been placed on the injury reserve by the club.
King has been hampered by an ongoing ankle injury that has impacted his ability to train and play to his full potential.
Scans on Thursday revealed a recovery timeline that will likely see him miss the remainder of the NBL23 season.
Hawks General Manager of Basketball Mat Campbell explained King has returned to the US to undertake his rehabilitation program.
“Unfortunately, injuries and circumstances prohibited George from gaining any real consistency in his time with the club,” said Campbell.
“While it has been a tough start to the season for the squad, we are determined to turn things around. We have great belief in Jacob and our young and developing group, and with uncertainty around George’s availability, the club needs to move quickly on a new piece that can provide the import help we need”.
The club will now focus on a new import search, with an announcement due soon.
