Young HawkHeads, get excited - Illawarra will be hosting a fun-filled school holiday camp next month.
Running from July 14-15 at the Snakepit, the Hawks' camp will allow kids aged 6-16 to learn skills firsthand from Illawarra players, including Tim Coenraad, as well as potentially winning numerous prizes.
"During our camp, participants should expect to have fun but also experience some quality coaching," Hawks community engagement officer Tim Coenraad.
"They will get the chance to compete in games against their fellow players and test their mettle against the Hawks players."
Action, which will cost $70 per day or $120 for both, will tip-off at 9am both days, before wrapping at 3pm - with members receiving a $10 discount (so please keep an eye out for the club's email).
Coenraad explained this camp, along with an increasing number of school visits around the Illawarra, emphasises the club's recommitment to the community.
"As an organisation, we want to rebuild that connection with the community, which has been difficult to maintain over the past few years," he said.
"We want our local community to know that we are fully committed to serving the Illawarra region and feel that one of the many strategies to accomplish this is to have our camps run by our association and our players.
"Holiday camps and school visits are our chance to connect with the young players of our community and build positive relationships with our fan base.
"I encourage schools and other organisations to reach out if there is an event that a Hawks presence can with."
Morning tea and lunch will be provided on both days - all players will need to bring is a basketball, drink bottle, towel and their enthusiasm to learn and have fun.
