Hawks thank UOW for their generosity

The Illawarra Hawks would like to thank the University of Wollongong for their generosity in allowing the foundation club to play their semi-final series at their home-court, the WIN Entertainment Centre.
UOW had planned to host their 2022 graduation ceremonies at the WIN Entertainment Centre, from May 2-4, which would have clashed with the Hawks' vital semi-final showdowns with arch-rivals Sydney.
But thanks to swift discussions and the UOW being accommodating, the latter selflessly decided to move their graduations back on campus at The Hub.
"The Hawks are greatly appreciative of the UOW’s sacrifice and understanding during our NBL22 finals campaign," said Illawarra's acting-president Mat Campbell.
"The UOW has shown its commitment to the region and their integration into the City of Wollongong by their sacrifice and this underpins the long-standing relationship between the University and the Hawks. "
The three-day graduation ceremony, encompassing students concluding their studies in 2019, 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19, saw more than 12,000 people – including graduates, family and friends – attend UOW.
“We enjoyed welcoming back graduates, with their families and friends, onto our wonderful Wollongong campus for this momentous occasion," UOW Vice-Chancellor Professor Patricia Davidson said.
Davidson's colleague Luke Woods went on to say they were happy work with the Hawks on this and strengthen their long-term relationship.

UOW’s plans for graduation ceremonies at Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre on April 28 remain in place.
