The Illawarra Hawks congratulate Sam Froling, Lachlan Olbrich, William 'Hickey' Davo and HyungJung Lee on being selected for national team duties in the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers in November.
Boomers debutants Olbrich and Hickey will join Hawks Co-Captain Sam Froling as a reward for their role in the side's strong start to the NBL25 Season.
The Boomers will play Thailand on November 21st before Froling, Olbrich, and Hickey face the sharp-shooting Lee and the Korean National Team on November 24th.
"We are all excited to participate in the Fiba Asia Cup. It is always an honour to be chosen to represent Australia," shared Froling on today's news. "To share this with Lachie and Davo will be something special, and it's a great opportunity for all of us to compete on the international stage. We look forward to having four Hawks on the floor on November 24th in Korea, and it's something the Club and our member base can be very proud of."
Lee shared, "I am excited to play at home in Korea in front of my friends and family. It is an honour to play in the FIBA Asia Cup and show my fellow Aussie teammates my hometown."
Mat Campbell, General Manager of Basketball for the Illawarra Hawks shared, “Having four of our Hawks playing squad named for the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers is an outstanding achievement for our Club, and it is a testament to the form of Sam, Lachie, Davo and HJ in the season's early rounds.
There are few honours greater than playing for your national team, and we look forward to seeing the boys perform well in Thailand and Korea in the coming weeks”.
