Congratulations to Hawks Alumni Adam Caporn for being appointed Head Coach of the Australian Boomers.
A former Illawarra Hawks player (#120), made his NBL debut with the club in 2004. Known for his cerebral approach to the game as a point guard. Caporn was a crucial contributor off the bench during the Hawks' 2004/05 Grand Final run.

After playing 105 games with the Hawks, Caporn returned to Western Australia, where he spent three seasons with the Perth Wildcats. Unfortunately, injuries cut his playing career short, leading to his retirement at just 27 years old.
Caporn transitioned to coaching, starting as an assistant coach at his alma mater, St. Mary's University in California, from 2010 to 2014. He then moved to the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence, where he served as an assistant coach from 2014 to 2021.
Caporn’s coaching journey then took him to the United States, where he was head coach of the Long Island Nets from 2021 to 2022, followed by a role as assistant coach for the Brooklyn Nets from 2022 to 2024. By 2024, he joined the Washington Wizards as an assistant coach in the NBA.

Having previously worked as an assistant coach under Brian Goorjian for the Australian Boomers, Caporn has now been appointed head coach and is set to lead the Green and Gold into the future.
Wishing you all the best, Adam!
