The Illawarra Hawks are pleased to announce the appearance of the iconic Bearded Bakers as part of the NBL Blitz blockbuster against fierce rivals, the Sydney Kings this Saturday night.
“Our commitment to delivering the most entertaining night out in the Illawarra and celebrating diversity and multiculturalism meant partnering with the Bearded Bakers was a natural fit”, said president and co-owner Dorry Kordahi.
The Bearded Bakers, made famous by their entertaining celebration of music and culture, centred around the iconic knafeh dessert will be on full show at the Hawks blockbuster.
“I've known Dorry for years and followed what he is doing at the club, his passion for entertainment and community and jumped when he asked to be part of the Hawks’ game day experience”, said founder Ameer El-Issa.
Kordahi, who has Lebanese heritage said as a co-owner, sharing his food and culture was something that was important to him and the Bearded Bakers are the perfect way to share this experience.
“The Illawarra region is a rich melting pot of a wide mix of cultures and nationalities and we are firmly committed to connecting emotionally with our diverse community and what better way than through their appetite,” Kordahi said.
According to Melinda Boutkasaka from SBS 'the dancing and singing knafeh bakers have reinvigorated Sydney's multicultural street food scene in recent years.’

“Dapper brothers Ameer and Joey El-Issa, also known as The Bearded Bakers, run a pop-up out of a shipping container, specialising in one mouthwatering item: the dairy dessert knafeh,” Boutkasaka continued.
Earlier this month, the Hawks also announced a grant to the Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra, to fund a program to help migrants learn to swim in another commitment to make a positive difference.
The Bearded Bakers, famous for their exuberant singing and dancing, will unveil their 20-foot container and kitchen to the Hawks faithful on Harbour Street from 5:30pm and be part of the half-time show with their unique brand of entertainment.
Tickets to the Hawks and Sydney Kings clash on Saturday, November 27 are available through Ticketmaster.
