The Steelers Club will join the Illawarra Hawks family as the foundation club's exclusive short sponsor - seeing two of the region's most iconic brands team up for the NBL22 season.
“The Steelers and Hawks have had a close relationship for many years now,” Steelers general manager Sharon Arrow said.
“There was a time the Hawks office was in the Steelers Club.
“We believe the time has come to bring a new level of sophistication to the relationship that will no doubt benefit both organisations and our Illawarra community.”
The Steelers Club, founded one year after the Hawks in 1980, have always been big supporters of helping Illawarra athletes excel on the national and international stages.
“I believe there are great synergies between the two organisations,” Arrow said.
“We are community focussed entities that see sport as the conduit that brings people together, lifts their spirits, unites friends, family and indeed regions.
“The past two years have shown us all we need to support each other and ensure sport and this region survives and thrives.”
The teaming up of the two ventures will also see Arrow work alongside Hawks co-owner and president Dorry Kordahi.
“I’m really excited to work closely with Dorry - he’s done a fantastic job engaging with the community,” she said.
“He has put himself out there and has been a wonderful ambassador for The Hawks and our region.
“He continues to strive for excellence and pushes the boundaries, his energy and enthusiasm is infectious and a joy to witness - which will be a joy to work with for years to come.”
Kordahi echoed Arrow's comments and believes both businesses can thrive as a partnership.
“To have the Steelers Club back on board with the Hawks is a landmark moment for the club, which highlights the impact we’ve made both on and off the court over the past 12 months,” Kordahi said.
“We’re all really excited to work with Sharon and her team, as both entities have similar core values and goals they want to achieve in the Illawarra community.”
The Steelers Club, located adjacent to the WIN Entertainment Centre where the Hawks play their home fixture, is the region's home ground for entertainment - providing amazing food and drinks at affordable prices.
As an added bonus, the Hawks will hold their official post-match function at the Steelers Club throughout the season - topping off the best night out in the Illawarra.
The club, open Monday to Sunday from 11am to 6am, also provides TAB and Keno facilities.
Tickets for the Hawks' first home fixture of the NBL22 season, against the New Zealand Breakers at the WIN Entertainment Centre on Friday, December 17, are available via Ticketmaster.
