Todd Blanchfield will don an Illawarra Hawks uniform for a second time after signing a two-year deal with the club.

The 373-game veteran will return to Wollongong after spending the last three years with the Perth Wildcats.

Blanchfield is a two-time club MVP and will bring his perimeter shooting and veteran leadership back to WIN Entertainment Centre for the next two seasons.

Despite falling out of the Perth rotation late in NBL23, Blanchfield showed he has plenty left to offer at the level by scoring 51 points across two games for the Australian Boomers in the most recent FIBA Asian Qualifiers.

More recently, he has teamed with Adelaide 36er's guard Jason Cadee to lead the first-placed Gold Coast Rollers in the NBL1 North conference, averaging 23.5 points and a league-leading 11.6 rebounds per game.

The Hawks lost over 600 games of experience after the NBL23 season following the retirements of Kevin White and Tim Coenraad. For Head Coach Jacob Jackomas, adding a proven leader with big game pedigree was a priority to complement his young and developing roster.

"Todd is a known product across our league, and it's great to welcome him and his family back to the Illawarra," said Jackomas.

"While we are committed to building a young and dynamic roster, it's important that we balance that with some strong leadership and players that have regularly competed at a playoff level. Todd fits that bill, and he will be an important part of our NBL24 campaign."

While Blanchfield was surprised to be playing away from RAC Arena in NBL24, he is excited to rejoin the Hawks and the Illawarra community.

"I am thrilled to rejoin the Hawks for the next two seasons. My wife and I have always been fond of our time in Wollongong, and we are looking forward to being back amongst some familiar faces and the organisation," said Blanchfield.

"Mat [Campbell], Jacob [Jackomas] and the coaching staff are putting together a great group of guys, and I can't wait to get to work as we prepare for the new season."

Blanchfield takes the Hawks roster to 11, joining Tyler Harvey, Sam Froling, Justin Robinson, Gary Clark, Wani Swaka Lo Buluk, Dan Grida, William 'Davo' Hickey, Lachlan Olbrich, Mason Peatling, AJ Johnson, and development players Biwali Bayles and Harry Morris.
