Sam Froling has warmed into his role at Levanga Hokkaido. While Froling played limited minutes in his debut, his second game exhibited the style of basketball Hawks fans were accustomed to, scoring 15 points and 9 rebounds in a loss to the Chiba Jets.

The Levanga Hokkaido have welcomed the Hawks big man and while it may not be familiar territory, Froling is happy to be playing a familiar style of basketball.

“For the past two years, the Australian team has had a similar team style, so that is one of my strengths. My role is to rebound, and to demonstrate my ability to score as a big man in defence and offense.”

Froling also touched on his experiences so far in Japan with Levanga media.

“I ate miso ramen, and it was delicious. I haven’t eaten sushi yet, so I would like to try when I have the chance. I have heard about delicious restaurants from Mr. Mortum as well”, Froling said.

With 20 games left in the regular season, Froling is excited to further learn and grow his game in the B league.

“I want to win as a team. I think I will be able to gain a deeper understanding of Japanese basketball and what is expected of me. I hope I can show you how I continue to learn and grow.”, Froling said.

The Levanga Hokkaido play the Mikawa Sea Horses in a two game stretch over Friday and Saturday evening.
