The NBL1 North competition tipped off this weekend, with Lachlan Dent, Akoldah Gak and Alex Mudronja hitting the court.
Dent’s Brisbane Capitals went down to the Northside Wizards 113-109 at home, with the point guard contributing a double double, 12 points, 2 rebounds and 14 assists.
There was star power galore on either side setting up the match but ultimately Andrew White III was the difference maker for Wizards, with the team going on to win the game in overtime by four points.
It was a spectacular NBL1 debut for White finishing with 46 points and seven rebounds on 11/21 shooting from the floor, 4/10 from downtown and a phenomenal 20/24 from the foul line.
Meanwhile, Gak and Mudronja travelled to Darwin with the Southern Districts Spartans, with the Salties proving too strong for the travelling party, going down 102-89.
Kobe McDowell-White produced 23 points, five rebounds, four steals and two assists for the Spartans with Akoldah Gak contributing 18 points, Koen Sapwell 15 points and four rebounds, Alex Mudronja 15 points and seven boards, and Andre Ugrinic 14 points and nine rebounds.
The Southern Districts Spartans return home for round 2 on Saturday 1 April against Sunshine Coast Phoenix, while the Brisbane Capitals are away against USC Rip City on Sunday 2 April.
