The Illawarra Hawks have bolstered their front court with the signing of Mangok Mathiang for the 2022/23 season.
Mathiang joins the Hawks following stints in the NBA with the Charlotte Hornets, and Europe, most recently signed with Cedevita Olimpija in the Slovenia ABA League.
During his time in Europe, the centre averaged a double double while playing for Vanoli Cremona in the LBA, and Bahceseshir Koleji in the EuroCup.
Illawarra Hawks Head Coach Jacob Jackomas is excited Mathiang will be joining his roster for NBL23.
“Mathiang is known for his physical play, rim protection and high motor, making him a key addition to our squad.”
“His versatility and athleticism really suits the style of play the NBL is headed towards, and will bring a lot of experience to our young core group of players,” Jackomas said.
Mathiang joins Tyler Harvey, Sam Froling, Daniel Grida, Alex Mudronja, Akoldah Gak, Wani Swaka Lo Buluk, Deng Deng and Lachlan Dent on the Illawarra Hawks 2022/23 roster.
