Two-time NBL Champion Mason Peatling is returning to the Illawarra on a two-year deal! A natural leader, Peatling will bring his professionalism, strong work ethic, and the invaluable experience of winning two NBL Championships, all to help the Hawks push for another title.

Mason was a crucial part of the Hawks' success in NBL25, starting every game after the November FIBA window (with the exception of one due to an administrative error). He played a pivotal role as an elite connector on the road to an NBL Championship. The Hawks are keeping a key veteran and proven winner in an important position.
“Having a 2 year deal to return to the Hawks is an amazing opportunity for me and my family.
We’ve loved our time in the ‘Gong so far and love the people in the Illawarra community.
I believe I’ve played my best basketball for the Hawks and am excited to see what more I can bring to our team to try go back to back.
I am really looking forward to getting back together with the guys and giving it everything in NBL26 & NBL27.” Peatling said.
General Manager of Basketball, Mat Campbell added: “Having someone like Mason Peatling on your team is a dream for any organisation. He’s hardworking, low-maintenance, and constantly pushes everyone to improve, always leading by example. On top of that, he’s a great person who you can always rely on.”
Mason will take his talents back to the Dandenong Rangers in the NBL1 competition, after an impressive season with the Rangers in 2024, averaging 14.38pts, 10 rbs and 2.3 assists per game.
