Hawks newest signing Hyunjung "HJ" Lee is excited to get down to the Illawarra, and rejoin teammates Sam Froling, Dan Grida, and Wani Swaka Lo Buluk.
Lee says the opportunity to play with a handful of former teammates was part of what attracted him to the Hawks. While at the Centre of Excellence (CoE), Lee built relationships with Sam, Dan, and Wani.
“I’m super excited. My guys Sam Froling, Wani [Swaka Lo Buluk], Dan Grida - all of the NBL CoE guys – we’ll all meet together so I’m really excited,” Lee said.
“Super talented team and also a super young team. So I feel like we can do a lot of things as a team, as individual success for the next two, three years.
“I’m really looking forward to play with them.”
His prior experience in Australia includes participating in Next Generation camps as part of the NBA Global Academy, and he represented the BA CoE in NBL1 during 2019, alongside the likes of recent Brisbane signing Josh Bannan, Cairns rookie Taran Armstrong, and former Adelaide guard Josh Giddey.
Lee is a member of the Philadelphia 76ers side currently taking part in the 2023 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.
