Having initially been signed as a development player and elevated to the full-time player roster during NBL24, William 'Davo' Hickey's journey is not yet over with the Hawks.
Mat Campbell, GM of Basketball, is thrilled with Hickey's ongoing commitment to the club, sharing, "Davo was a standout player during the NBL24 season, particularly going into the finals series. His ability to remain agile on the court and defend from multiple positions is a key component to our roster going into NBL25."
He continued, "We are looking forward to continuing to build out the roster with confidence in key components such as Hickey's contribution to the court ahead of next week's free agency period."
Since his elevation to the full-time playing roster, Hickey has gone from strength to strength. Hickey has quickly become a fan favourite, with the Illawarra claiming him as their own.
With Hickey explaining, "Wollongong is truly beginning to feel like home for me. You can always feel the tight-knit community here, and you can feel that just walking around the city. This transcends to the club as well. The way I have been treated and helped with my career; I am excited to be a part of the team for NBL25."
