Illawarra coach Brian Goorjian will take a “deep breath” and consider his future at the club after the Hawks were eliminated from the NBL Finals.

Illawarra was swept by the Sydney Kings 2-0, making it the second consecutive year the Hawks’ campaign has ended in the Semi-Finals.

The 68-year-old Goorjian has helped revive Illawarra after the club was on the brink of collapsing two years ago, but he will now take time to ponder his position as head coach.

“I'm taking a deep breath," Goorjian said.

“I look at it every day…it's all about timing. Other than that, it's about what's the best for the organisation, what’s the best for the staff I’m with.

“I'm at an age now where I don't want to stand on anybody's toes. I've been the right person to this point, and I have tremendous staff under me, tremendous people around me.

“I have a big decision about what's best for the organisation.

“I get teary when I think about it. There’s a lot going on under the table about personnel around the team, and so much good going on.

“I have such a great young staff with this team and with the Boomers. The decision on me is not being selfish – it’s doing what's best for the organisation.

“I love the Gong. Whichever way it goes, whether I'm coaching or on the side, I'll still be around. It's an unbelievable place.”

Goorjian is a six-time NBL Coach of the Year and six-time NBL champion.
