Game 2 preview for the Hawks NBL Blitz pre-season on the Gold Coast.

The Illawarra Hawks take to the court this afternoon in search of their first win in the NBL Blitz pre-season competition.

The 3:30pm tip-off will see the Hawks line up against the Brisbane Bullets, with both teams coming off defeats at the hands of Melbourne United in Round One.

The Hawks used their opening game at the Blitz to rotate all 11 available players, with new recruit Mason Peatling leading all scorers with 13 points.

After a slow start, the Hawks second unit was instrumental in a second-half resurgence, which saw us outscore United 37-29.

Biwali Bayles worked hard, AJ Johnson had his first taste of the NBL game, and rookie big man Lachie Olbrich showed glimpses of his talent in his first hit in club colours.

Brisbane enters the NBL24 season with a new coach, Justin Schueller, and several new recruits, including former Hawks Isaac White and Mitch Norton, Sam McDaniel, Josh Bannan, and imports Chris Smith and Shannon Scott. Next Star Rocco Zikarsky joins the new-look Bullets roster led by Aron Baynes and Nathan Sobey.

The Hawks will be better for the run against United, and Hawks fans can catch all the action of today’s Hawks, and Bullets match live and free from 3:30pm on Kayo Freebies.
