Illawarra Hawks' Brian Goorjian will add to his incredible basketball resume on Friday against the Perth Wildcats when he chalks up his 800th NBL game as coach.

While Goorjian, who has won six NBL championships during his 24 years in NBL, is honoured to bring up another milestone, he is more concentrated on winning the round 21 fixture.

"Being involved in the game of basketball and this incredible Australian league has been amazing and I've loved every second of it," said Goorjian, who has already brought up other milestones this season including his 50th at Hawks coach.

"Records like this are great and something I'm proud of but just like I've explained to team, I'm more concentrated on the opportunity we have as a group to do something really special this season.

"I've been around the league for a while now, 800 games to be exact, and chances like this don't come around too often - so my full focus is putting the team in the best position to win that championship for the Illawarra region."

Friday's game will take Goorjian's total to 149 more than his closest rival Lindsay Gaze (651 matches).

During that stretch, Goorjian has 551 wins and 248 losses at a winning clip of 69.0 per cent.

Goorjian's Hawks, who currently sit in third with a 17-9, and their clash with the fourth-placed Wildcats will tip-off at 9.30 AEST on Friday - live on ESPN via Kayo Sports and Foxtel.
