The Illawarra Hawks and owners Crest Sport and Entertainment have announced that CEO Stu Taggart will step down following the conclusion of the current NBL25 season, after more than two years in the role.
Taggart will continue in the role over the next few months, collaborating closely with all Hawks Stakeholders to maximize the opportunities and planning for NBL26. He is expected to maintain an advisory role across the first half of 2025, to ensure a seamless transition and a continuation of the positive momentum that the Club has gathered over the last two seasons.
Vice Chairman of Crest Sports and Entertainment, Terry Egger offered “We would like to thank Stu for his professionalism, his tireless efforts and work over the last two years and look forward to his continuing contributions over the remainder of this magical season.”
Taggart expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to such an important and much-loved Illawarra institution. “The Hawks are really a part of the fabric of this region and its community. I am very grateful to the whole Hawks team – on and off the court – and the members, fans and Illawarra community for giving me the privilege of contributing over the last couple of years to this Club’s remarkable story,” he said. “There is still plenty to be done, but I am proud to have had the opportunity to help lay what I hope can be the foundations for the Hawks’ long-term sustainability in the Illawarra,” he added. “I’d like to thank everyone for their ongoing support – for the Club and for me personally.”
“Over the next few months, I’ll be focused on finalising several key strategic partnerships, including in support of our facilities strategy, bedding down the annual forward strategic and operating planning program, and supporting the transition process for the future leadership of the business,” he said.
