The Illawarra Hawks are pleased to announce Greater Bank has joined the Club as a Platinum Partner and Hawks Helps Community Partner for the next three years.
The new partnership will see the Greater Bank brand proudly displayed on the top back of the Hawks' playing singlets and the launch of a new “Mental Fitness” program within Hawks Helps, delivered to primary and secondary school students across the Illawarra and South Coast.
Like the Hawks, Greater Bank has strong ties to the Illawarra. Since opening its first branch in the region in 1973, the bank now has five branches in Hawks heartland and services more than 16,000 local customers.
Hawks Chief Executive Officer Stuart Taggart shared the organisation's excitement in welcoming Greater Bank to the Club.
"We are delighted to welcome Greater Bank to the Hawks family for the next three seasons," said Taggart.
"To have a respected and ambitious brand like Greater join our suite of partners demonstrates the growing confidence in the Hawks business and the momentum built off a successful NBL24 campaign."
“As we reaffirm our commitment to the Hawks being a Club that truly matters to the whole Illawarra community, it is so exciting to be announcing a major partnership with a company whose Illawarra history and community values are so totally aligned with our vision.”
"This will be a partnership based on those shared values with a strong focus on our members, customers, and local communities, and we look forward to the launch of several initiatives designed to enrich the experience of those audiences via our partner program.
Emma Brokate, Greater Bank's Chief Distribution Officer, said the Hawks were the perfect fit for their first major partnership in the Illawarra region.
"The Hawks are a part of the fabric of the Illawarra region, a true asset that the whole community can – and does – take huge pride in getting behind," Ms Brokate said.
"So, it is a great honour at Greater Bank to see our logo on the shoulders of the iconic Hawks singlets, a sign to the whole region that we've got your back.
"Being such a proud day for Greater Bank, we wanted to celebrate – and what better way to do it than by giving the whole community the opportunity to dunk these icons of the region!”.
Hawks members will also benefit from the new partnership with a range of Greater personal banking products and services to be made available across the Club's membership program.
Your first chance to experience the Greater Bank and Illawarra Hawks partnership is tomorrow, Saturday, August 24.
To make the launch of the new partnership truly memorable, Greater Bank is hosting Shoot for Greater - a basketball event for all at Stockland Shellharbour on Saturday, September 24, between 10am and 2pm.
Shoot for Greater will give fans a first opportunity this season to meet their heroes in person, with Illawarra Hawks players and coaches set to sign autographs, pose for photos, and maybe even offer advice on how participants can make their dunks, layups, and free throws even "greater."
A centre-piece of the event will be a green screen behind a foam pit, allowing members and fans to fearlessly fly, ball in hand, like their Hawks heroes.
A photographer will capture the moment with a little bit of green screen magic and then transpose the image to show the fearless Hawks fan 'dunking' before a packed house at a Hawks home game or at the historic Flagstaff Point Lighthouse!
The epic photo can be printed as a physical basketball card for fans to keep as a souvenir so that they can upload their dunking skills to social media.
This is an event for the whole family to enjoy. There will also be a basketball arcade and VR games, ensuring plenty of fun activities.
