Another week down and while the new NBL Season gets closer we still have a way to go Hawkheads. Fortunately we still had some off season games to keep us occupied while we get set for another season of Hawks action.
Firstly we will look at the SEABL competition where Luke Jamieson and the Mt Gambier Pioneers continue to shine. The Pioneers needed a win to continue to stay out in front of the rest of the competition and they didn’t let up this week, leading the Geelong Supercats from start to finish. Jamo continued to play a pivotal role for Mt Gambier and recorded 5 points, and 5 rebounds in 23 minutes of action as his side won 104-94.
Next up for the Pioneers is a big home clash against the Ballarat Miners.
Over in the WA SBL, Cody Ellis again came up big for the Stirling Senators. Cody scored 6 of the last 9 points, including a go ahead jumper, in the sides 66-64 win over the Rockingham Flames. He finished the game with 21 points (60% 2pt fg’s), 3 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals as the Senators remain in playoff contention. Next up for the Senators are two games this weekend against The East Perth Eagles and the Goldfield Giants. Two teams on the outside of the playoff spots looking for a way in.
We also checked in on Angus Glover as he continues on the rehabilitation trail and continues to impress in his recovery. He is coming up on 3 months post operation and the swelling in and around the knee is minimal which is a great sign. He is already back building the muscles around his knee with a lot of leg press and hamstring exercises and is also doing a lot of balance work in his rehabilitation as well. It’s a true testament to Angus’ character that he maintains such a positive attitude throughout his rehabilitation process.
