It’s time for another Off-Season report Hawkheads!
We will start this week in the land of the long white cloud where the Southland Sharks featuring Nick Kay & Mitch Norton played in back to back games. In the first game, both Mitch & Nick were instrumental in the Sharks 100-94 overtime win against the Mike Pero Nelson Giants. Mitch scored 19 pts while adding 8 assists and 5 rebounds while Nick was dominant inside with 24 points, a huge 15 boards and 3 assists.
The second game wasn’t as good for the boys, suffering a 61-64 loss to the Taranaki Mountaineers. After having their initial flight out of Nelson delayed & subsequently cancelled, they then had to find another way to get to their next game. Eventually having the tip off time delayed by 30 minutes didn’t help with the team going down in a narrow loss. Mitch finished with 12 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists, while Nick Kay backed up with 7 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
In his third game playing in Italy, Rotnei Clarke had another solid outing. In 34 minutes he tallied 19 points, 4 Rebounds & 2 assists. Unfortunately, he is yet to taste victory over there with his side suffering a 63-73 defeat at the hands of Vanol CR.
In WA, the Stirling Senators featuring Cody Ellis were unable to come away with a win suffering a 68-84 defeat to the hands of Cockburn Cougars. Cody managed to tally 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks in 26 minutes of action.
Kevin White has extended his stay at the Bendigo Braves for a few more games, and this weekend faced off against Luke Jamieson and the Mt Gambier Pioneers. In the SEABL Grand Final replay, the Pioneers were to reverse the result this time and defeated last seasons SEABL Champions 80-60. Kev finished the game with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, while Jamo tallied 10 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 steals just 1 rebound shy of his second straight double-double.
Finally, we want to wish Angus Glover all the best as he is currently in Portland, Oregon training at the Nike Hoops Summit. Angus flew out on Saturday for the week-long event and has already been on court at Nike HQ over the past two days.
